FANO They check him because he is accused of harassing passers-by in front of the Cathedral, and he is arrested for resisting.

Around 7pm last Friday, a 49-year-old man, originally from Piedmont, without a fixed abode was stationed in the churchyard of the Cathedral. The parish priest called the local police to ask for a check since the man had allegedly bothered passers-by.

The refusal of generalities

Beer in hand, he would have been tipsy. The traffic police car arrived on site and then proceeded to check and request documents. The man didn’t want to be identified and started to raise his tone. Excited moments in which the 49-year-old reacted badly by screaming and attacking 4 officers with the bottle.

This led to his arrest for resisting a public official, causing injuries and refusing to provide his personal details. The officers ended up in the emergency room to get medical reports as well as the man to get checked.

The validation hearing

Yesterday morning the hearing to validate the arrest with the 49-year-old, defended by Alessandra Angeletti, who provided her version, namely that he would have been attacked and would have reacted. The judge didn’t believe him, validated the arrest and ordered his signature. A character already known in the judicial news because he has accumulated various precedents for resisting a public official.

And he was on probation for a crime committed in 2018, when he entered the Municipality of Gabicce Mare threatening the mayor with an umbrella because according to him he would not receive the subsidy money. He was arrested then too.

The mayor’s commitment

Mayor Serfilippi spoke on the episode yesterday to express solidarity with the 4 officers attacked. Thanking the commander for the work done, the mayor announced the adoption of “tools that enable officers to adequately guarantee public safety as well as protect their own safety”.
