Paolo Carù, a merchant from Gallarate, in the Varese area, owner of one of the most famous record shops in the world, died yesterday morning.
He was 77 years old, he was found lifeless in the Gallate home where he lived alone. Founder of magazines, a true lover of music, he inherited the ‘Carù disco’ shop in Piazza Garibaldi in 1967, at just 20 years old, from his father Luigi. Ten years ago The Guardian included it among the most famous indie vinyl shops in the world.
“The death of Paolo Carù is a serious loss for all of Gallarate. In addition to the public side, that of the great music expert and editor of the Buscadero, as well as that of the legendary record shopkeeper, in recent months I have also been able to appreciate the human side since relationships with his wife’s health have necessarily become more frequent. ” underlined the mayor Andrea Cassani. “He was very close to his wife Anna and that necessary detachment, for her health – he added – had put him to the test. Now this tragedy leaves us stunned and is a serious loss for the family, for the city and for all music fans.”
