That area that once hosted the royal hunting reserve of the Savoy is today recognized as UNESCO heritage, there “Defence”, one of the most evocative places in the Park, the most characteristic animal species of this area reside here, such as the Marsicano Brown Bear, the Damaltine Woodpecker and the Alpine Rosalia. With this itinerary, you will have the opportunity to learn about the history of the Savoy hunting reserve and at the same time the possibility of visit Artpark, a project born with the desire to bring contemporary art into one of the oldest and most evocative naturalistic places in Italy, the Old Forests of the Abruzzo National Park.
This initiative was born from the collaboration between Park Authority, the Municipality of Pescasseroli and PARCO1923, perfume brand inspired by the plants and flowers of the Park.
PROGRAM EXECUTION:
The appointment is at 9.30 am at the Valle Cupa riding school, in via della Difesa. You start on foot from the riding school along a path that immediately enters the woods. The intervention of man in this area will be visible, with pollarded and twisted trees that give this location a fairy-tale appearance. The path crosses large clearings where the presence of fruiting shrubs guarantees food for the bear in some periods of the year. The circular itinerary will take us to Arteparco and subsequently to the Defense fountain.
