TOASTS – This afternoon, at the “Perrino” hospital in Brindisi, a serious episode of assault occurred against two policemen on duty. The two officers, engaged in their duty to ensure safety within the emergency room, were violently attacked by two brothers, one of whom was waiting to be examined for a dislocated shoulder.
During the attack, one of the policemen was punched, suffering craniofacial trauma. The emergency medical staff immediately provided aid to the injured policeman, assessing his injuries as healable in a period of 20 days. For the other agent, the prognosis was established as 10 days.
These acts of violence pose a threat not only to the safety of healthcare workers and law enforcement, but also to the peace of mind of all those who rely on hospital services. Tommaso Gioia, health advisor to the president, is deeply disappointed and angry by this episode and will undertake to interact with the president of the Puglia region, Michele Emiliano, in order to strengthen hospital facilities and protect those who work to guarantee an adequate service to users.
It is essential to intervene promptly to eradicate these vile episodes from the root and guarantee a safe and peaceful environment for all those who serve in hospitals.
