The Red Cross of Cremona protagonist in the 160th relay

Cremonese stage for the relay of Italian Red Cross Volunteers which this year celebrates 160 years of the Foundation. Around 6.30 pm the group of cyclists in rigorous red uniforms were welcomed in the Federico II courtyard by the president of the Cremona Committee Loredana Uberti and the former sports councilor Luca Zanacchi.

Seven volunteers from Cremona will leave from Piazza del Comune on Sunday morning at 9.00 to head towards Mantua, to continue this particular tour which began today in Milan and which will end on 22 June in Solferino touching three regions (Lombardy, Emilia Romagna, Veneto) involving 21 historical committees: beyond Milan and Solferino, Bergamo, Brescia, Busto Arsizio, Castiglione delle Stiviere, Como, Crema, Cremona, Ferrara, Gallarate, Mantua, Monza, Lecco, Lodi, Padua, Pavia, Reggio Emilia, Sondrio, Varese, Verona.

The choice of cycling, the endurance sport par excellence, is intended to be a concrete tribute to the perseverance and dedication that have characterized the history of the Red Cross and the altruistic spirit of the volunteers. “This relay”, said Rosario Valastro, president of the Italian Red Cross, “represents not only a journey through our history, but also a journey into the values ​​and principles that constitute the heart of the Red Cross.
