5.5 million euros for hospitalizations in the therapeutic communities of Puglia formally available within the next two weeks and the consequent unblocking of placements currently at a standstill.

These formal commitments undertaken by the budget councilor Raffaele Piemontese on behalf of the Puglia Region during the meeting of the technical table for pathological addictions effectively unblock the dispute opened a few months ago by the Coordination of the Apulian therapeutic communities.

The sector of services for pathological addictions in Puglia is today in very serious difficulties due to regional defunding; a problem that risked compromising the very provision of services.

The proposals to overcome the current crisis situation arrived on Tuesday evening during a meeting of the technical table at the regional health department chaired by the Piedmontese budget councilor, delegate of the president Michele Emiliano, which was also attended by the director of health promotion department Vito Montanaro, the manager Elena Memeo, the various department directors of the six ASL Apulia and a representation of the therapeutic communities, Third Sector Addiction Forum, APIS, CREA.

During the meeting, the critical issues of assistance to people with pathological addictions were examined and the difficulties that both the private social bodies that manage the communities and the addiction departments of the six local health authorities are experiencing, also due to the entry into force of DGR 809 and 1982 of 2023 on spending ceilings.
