Flood: one year after the ‘thank you’ to the rescuers

BOLOGNA, JUNE 15 – Two thousand people gathered at the PalaCattani in Faenza (Ravenna) for the day of thanks, organized one year after the flood and postponed by a few weeks compared to the anniversary to avoid getting involved in the electoral campaign. The initiative was organized by the Region and the Civil Protection, precisely, to say thanks to all those who, in various capacities, with or without uniform, rushed in those terrible days of May a year ago, to rescue and help the citizens of the areas hit by the flood and to remember the 17 victims, with over 2000 guests, including representatives of Civil Protection, institutions, state forces and the world of volunteers. For all those present, a canvas bag with the book “Quel che conta”, created by the Communication and Information Agency of the Regional Council and the shots of the Cesena photographer Marco Onofri, as well as a souvenir pin from the Civil Protection. Participating were Castrese De Rosa, prefect of Ravenna, Massimo Isola, mayor of Faenza, Michele de Pascale, mayor of Ravenna, representing the UPI, mayor of Cesena, representing Anci Emilia-Romagna and Matteo Lepore, metropolitan mayor of Bologna . Then there were the interventions of Sisto Russo (National Department of Civil Protection), Rita Nicolini, director of the regional Civil Protection, Gian Marco Desogus, representing the European Commission, Sergio Zaniboni, president of the regional Coordination Committee of Civil Protection volunteering , and Dario Pasini, president of the National Civil Protection Committee.
