OVADA – The activists in the city they immediately mobilized to convey the cowardice of the gesture committed last night, Libera Alessandria immediately took a stand against the events of Piazza Impastato. The plaque celebrating the activist against the mafia killed in Cinisi in 1978 uprooted by a small group of boys. A serious act of vandalism against a symbol of sensitivity that the city had wanted to convey. “We are sure – explains the association – that the city authorities and in particular the new Newly elected mayor Gianfranco Comaschi will be able to react firmly and decisively, we trust that the perpetrators of this shameful act will be identified and punished as they deserve.”
To point out what happened some residents had been woken up in the night from screams and shouts. The area between the square and Vico Chiuso San Francesco has often been the scene of problems in recent years. What happened also reignited the well-known controversy over the absence of control tools.
Civil commitment
Libera has long been able to count on a very active group for initiatives in our city. “We will continue – we read in the note – indeed we will intensify our commitment to the affirmation of the culture of legality and we will not tire of saying that “the mafia is a mountain of shit”which is fought every day, even here, in our city which has always been able to defend the values of freedom, democracy, peace and legality that Peppino Impastato embodied during his short life. Damaging a license plate, vandalizing a symbol that made us proud to be part of this Community is an offense to all the citizens of Ovada, a serious act that should not be minimized or classified as a “stunt”.
