Giovanna D’Arco, The Barber of Seville, La Boheme, Andrea Chénier are the four titles that make up the Opera Season 2025 of the Royal Theater of Parmafrom January to May, enriched by Regio196the symphonic choral concert on the occasion of the 196th anniversary of the inauguration of the Theatre.

The Opera Season inaugurates in the name of Giuseppe Verdi with Giovanna D’Arcolyric drama in three acts with a libretto by Temistocle Solera da Die Jungfrau von Orléans by Friedrich Schiller which debuts on Friday January 24th 8.00 pm (performances on Sunday 26th at 3.30 pm, Thursday 30th and Saturday 1 February, 8.00 pm). For the first time at the Teatro Regio in Parma Emma Dante signs the direction of this new production with the scenes by Carmine Maringola, the costumes by Vanessa Sannino, the lights by Luigi Biondi, the choreography by Manuela Lo Sicco. Michele Gambain his debut at the Teatro Regio, conducts the work for the first time, which is performed in the critical edition edited by Alberto Rizzuti, on the podium of the Arturo Toscanini Philharmonic and of the Choir of the Teatro Regio of Parma prepared by Martino Faggiani. Protagonists Luciano Ganci (Charles VII), Nino Machaidze (Giovanna), George Petean (James) Krzysztof Bączyk (Talbot, debuting in the role).

The Barber of Sevillea comic opera in two acts by Gioachino Rossini with a libretto by Cesare Sterbini returns to the stage, without subscription, on Saturday 1st Marchwith performances on Wednesday 5th, Friday 7th March at 8.00pm and Sunday 9th March at 3.30pm in the acclaimed staging of the Rossini Opera Festival and the Teatro Regio of Parma which inaugurated the 2024 Season with great success, with direction, sets and costumes by Pier Luigi Pizzicollaborator director and lights Massimo Gasparon. George Petroufor the first time at the Regio, conducts the opera in the updated critical edition edited by Alberto Zedda, on the podium of the Senzaspine Orchestra and the Chorus of the Teatro Regio of Parma, prepared by Martino Faggiani.
On stage Davide Luciano (Figaro, for the first time at the Regio), Maria Kataeva (Rosina), Ruzil Gatin (The Count of Almaviva, for the first time at the Regio), Roberto de Candia (Don Bartolo), Carlo Lepore (Don Basilio), Licia Piermatteo (Berta), William Corrò (Fiorello / An officer), Armando De Ceccon (Ambrose).

La Boheme by Giacomo Puccini, lyrical scenes in four paintings on the libretto by Luigi Illica and Giuseppe Giacosa from the novel Scenes from the life of Bohème by Henri Murger, is on stage on Friday April 4 at 8.00 pm (performances Sunday 6 April at 3.30 pm, Thursday 10 April at 8.00 pm, Saturday 12 April at 8.00 pm) in the new staging co-produced by Teatro Regio di Parma, Opera Lombardia and iTeatri di Reggio Emilia, signed by team creative under35 winner of the Opera Lombardia tender, composed of the director and costume designer Maria Luisa Bafunno, by the set designer Eleonora Peronetti, by the lights by Gianni Bertoli and by the choreography by Emanuele Rosa. The podium will also be under35, with Riccardo Bisatti for the first time at the Regio conducting the Parma Philharmonic and the Choir of the Teatro Regio of Parma, choirmaster Martino Faggiani, and the children’s choir of the Teatro Regio of Parma prepared by Massimo Fiocchi Malaspina. Protagonists Roberta Mantegna (Mimi), John Osborn (Rodolfo), Juliana Grigoryan (Musetta), Alessandro Luongo (Marcello), Roberto Lorenzi (Schaunard, for the first time at the Regio), Alexei Kulagin (Hills).

The Opera Season ends with Andrea Chénierhistorical drama in four scenes by Umberto Giordano with a libretto by Luigi Illica, Saturday May 3 8.00 pm (performances Tuesday 6, Friday 9 May at 8.00 pm, Sunday 11 May at 3.30 pm) in the production of the Teatro Comunale di Bologna and the Opéra de Monte-Carlo directed by Pier Francesco Maestriniscenes and videos by Nicolas Boni, costumes Stefania Scaraggi, lights Daniele Naldi, choreography Silvia Giordano. Francesco Lanzillotta conducts the Italian Philharmonic Orchestra and the Choir of the Teatro Regio of Parma, choirmaster Martino Faggiani. On stage Gregory Kunde (Andrea Chénier), Luca Salsi (Carlo Gérard), Natalia Gavrilan (The Countess of Coigny), Saioa Hernandez (Magdalene of Coigny), Andrea Pellegrini (Roucher), Manuela Custer (Madelon, for the first time at the Regio), Enrico Casari (An Incredible, for the first time at the Regio).

Regio196 is the symphonic choral concert on the occasion of the 196th anniversary of the inauguration of the Theater on Friday May 16th 2025, 8.00 pm, who will see Alessandro Palumbo conducting the Arturo Toscanini Philharmonic and the Choir of the Teatro Regio of Parma, prepared by Martino Faggiani to mark this new stage of the Theater towards its bicentenary, which will occur in 2029. The entirely Verdi program intertwines choirs, dance songs and symphonic pieces from Aida, Othello, Don Carlos, Falstaffalongside the Stabat mater et al Te Deum come on Four sacred pieces.

During the 2025 Season, promoting the valorization of emerging talents, the young artists who are students and former students of the Verdiana Academy will be among the protagonists of the activities scheduled as part of the Opera Season. L’Verdi Academy of the Teatro Regio of Parma, High Specialization Course in Verdi repertoire, is the free training course of excellence aimed at 12 young opera singers every year, which aims to train high-profile opera artists, offering them vocal preparation , theatrical and musical under the guidance of some of the greatest Verdi interpreters in the world, vocal coaches, pianists, directors and professionals in the sector. Among the teachers we note Francesco Bellotto, Silvia Dalla Benetta, Vincenzo De Vivo, Martino Faggiani, Barbara Frittoli, Damiana Pinti, Sebastiano Rolli, Riccardo Zanellato. He is the teaching director of the Accademia Verdiana Francesco Izzomusicologist, pianist and coach, full professor of musicology at the University of Southampton in the United Kingdom and specialized in the study of nineteenth-century melodrama.
