Nine people they were arrested in flagrante delicto from the State Police as part of a vast operation throughout the country to combat online child pornography. One of these resides in Catania.
The investigation, conducted by the Operational Center for Cyber Security of the Catania Postal Police, made it possible to investigate 26 people in different regions for possession and dissemination of child pornography material. Thousands of files, exchanges of horrifying images and videos seized, with abuse even of very young children.
The investigations, coordinated by the National Center for the fight against online child pornography (Cncpo) of the Postal Police service, began after the analysis of the contents of the electronic devices seized from a man who had been arrested months ago for the same conduct. They were in fact found on a messaging platform groups dedicated to exchanging gruesome images and videos, even abusing very young children. Now the participants in these groups have been identified.
The Catania District Prosecutor’s Office issued personal and computer search orders against them. The searches were carried out with the collaboration of the various operational centers for cyber security of the Postal Police. Those arrested instead reside in the provinces of Catania, Rome, Milan, Florence, Bergamo, Ravenna, Varese and Imperia.
One of them, in addition to thousands of child pornography files, had in his cloud the digital format of the book ‘Guia del pedofilo’ (i.e. ‘The pedophile’s guide’).
The material found and seized during the searches is being examined by the Catania District Prosecutor’s Office and the Postal Police for further investigative investigations also useful for the identification of the young victims.
