Salerno, Avella’s SOS: “Business in crisis due to work on the Corso, 30% drop”
Salerno.

What the Salerno municipal councilor of the PSI has launched in these hours is an authentic cry of alarm, Rino Avellaconcerned about the situation that traders are experiencing Corso Vittorio Emanuele, penalized by the work that has been going on for months. “One shoe shop has already lowered its shutters, the other traders have suffered an average drop in sales of 30% in the last four months. The renovation works on two sections of Corso Vittorio Emanuele are causing economic damage to the entire commercial sector. Damage that the municipal administration cannot ignore”, underlined the PSI exponent.

“For many merchants, the unexpected postponement of the delivery deadline by one month could represent a fatal blow. The Sales will begin on July 6th and the ‘White Night’ will take place. Under these conditions, half of the Course will be cut off entirely. With the current organization of the construction site, there is no possibility of even stopping to look at the shop windows. Furthermore, no one, walking along one side, will pass on the next to reach those shops too.”

For Avella, therefore, it is necessary to implement concrete actions. “In order to alleviate the inconvenience and allow these shopkeepers (who pay the most expensive rents in Salerno) to be able to carry on business, the competent Mobility councilor would do well, then, to urgently summon the company to remodel the perimeter of the construction site, to lower the large barriers and to open passages as wide as possible when the works will also involve the two sides, those currently open to pedestrians. So much so that, due to the start of the sales, this part of the Corso does not continue to be excluded”, Avella’s words.
