the ROM 1995 Cooperative presents “Public Opening”

“The ROM 1995 Cooperative, after the tiring period of crisis which never led it to close its doors, today presents the initiative “Public Opening” of the Reuse Centerwhich will be held at the headquarters in Via Reggio Campi II Tronco, 199 in Reggio Calabria, on June 17, 2024at 6.00 pm. He states this in a note Domenico ModafferiPresident of the ROM Cooperative 1995.

“The Reuse Centre, built within the headquarters of the cooperative in a confiscated property, represents the new hub in the city for the circular economy and waste reduction, which, thanks to three laboratories equipped with advanced equipment created with the support of a loan awarded to the Municipality of Reggio Calabria PON Metro 14-20, allows us to revive and recover donated furnishings, objects and materials, which can be displayed in the showroom and purchased at competitive prices also via social channels”.

“Continuing the mission of the ROM 1995 Cooperative, the Reuse Center promotes the feeling of community on the issues of waste reduction, environmental protection and reuse. Through the sharing, reuse, repair and recycling of materials, the Center presents itself as an “open laboratory”, aimed at prolonging the life of goods donated by citizens, making them useful again after appropriate processing”.

“The center is also equipped with a conference room and professional training rooms which will allow the cooperative, in agreement with other local and non-city entities, to become a hub for the development of activities linked to the circular economy, to issues of legality and to those of the social and working integration of disadvantaged people”.

“The project benefits from the technical-scientific consultancy of the ABITAlab university laboratory, Department of Architecture and Territory of the Mediterranean University of Reggio Calabria, in collaboration with the Pensando Meridiano Association. This synergy supports the activities of the Reuse Center in line with the sustainable development goals of the 2030 Agenda, in particular SDG 12 – Responsible Consumption and Production and SDG 4 – Quality Education”.

“Agape, Diocesan Catholic Action, Diocesan CARITAS, Christian Life Community, Legambiente, Libera, MOVI, Piccola Opera are a network of associations that have supported the cooperative’s actions since its inception, assuming co-responsibility for the path undertaken and today participates in the outcome of the new stage reached.
