Today the celebrations begin in honor of San Giovanni, patron saint of Ragusa and the diocese –

Preparations and liturgical initiatives are underway in honor of Saint John the Baptist, patron saint of the City and Diocese of Ragusa.

The liturgical calendar commemorates the figure of Saint John the Baptist twice a year in June for the nativity and in August for the martyrdom. The solemn celebrations are scheduled for August, but the Cathedral of Ragusa is also active with various liturgical moments on the occasion of the June celebrations.

The celebrations for the main patron of the city and the diocese of Ragusa will have their culmination on Monday 24 June. They begin today with several moments of prayer. On Sunday, masses are scheduled for 9am, 10.30am and 12pm. Another mass will be held in the afternoon at 7pm. During the celebration of the masses on Saturday and Sunday, the offerings of the faithful for the celebrations at the end of August in honor of Saint John the Baptist.

Furthermore, it is possible to light the torches in honor of the patron saint in the garden of Corso Vittorio Veneto. To do so, simply go to the sacristy. In the meantime, tickets are on sale for the draw, which will be drawn on 6 September.
