Courses to train personnel in the catering sector have started in Manoppello Scalo thanks to Cescot Abruzzo and the community of the Daughters of the Love of Jesus and Mary
The Confesercenti training body, accredited by the Region, and the community which, through the Fagem social cooperative, welcomes migrants in the village of Brecciarola di Chieti, thus provide a first experimental response to the persistent difficulty of finding personnel a few days after the start of the summer season.
Ten guests of the village aged between 20 and 38, coming from Cameroon, Bangladesh, Benin, Ivory Coast, Mali, Burkina Faso and Tunisia, are attending the course to obtain the regional qualification of Waiter, bar and business of banqueting.
At the end of the 123-hour course, they will be able to be employed in tasks that include cleaning, maintenance and tidying up the spaces, setting up and organizing the room and serving food and drinks.
In a note from Confesercenti we read: “A test with a strong symbolic and operational value, which can give an interesting response to the expectations of several subjects. The project is called HospItaly because it has a dual objective: to welcome migrants through a training course, which can become a driving force for inclusion, and to respond to the needs of companies to find personnel in the catering and food production sector”.
The project promoted by Confesercenti Abruzzo is supported by Gal Terre Pescaresi, which has made the premises of the accredited headquarters of its Training Organization available free of charge and was strongly supported by the Fagem Cooperative led by Sister Vera D’Agostino, by local businesses and in particular from the Caffetteria Anna of the entrepreneur Loriano Iezzi, a leading company in Manoppello in catering and banqueting, which also supported the costs of teaching and consumables, to the teachers and the commission appointed by the Region for the final exam.
