Start of repaving works in the Altamura Historic Centre
We inform you that starting from Monday 17th we will continue with the installation of the preparatory signs for the start of the repaving works in the historic centre, the start of which is set for 24th June.
The beginning of the same will start from Porta Bari.

Redevelopment of Corso Federico II Di Svevia
The recovery and redevelopment project of Corso Federico II is aimed at pursuing further objectives of the organisation’s development strategy, which has already identified the historic center as an absolute priority, placing it as the aim of the city’s Urban Regeneration Program and, subsequently of the extraordinary intervention program for the redevelopment and safety of the suburbs referred to in the Prime Ministerial Decree of 25 May
2016.
The realization of the planned works represents an essential step to implement an effective process of redevelopment of the urban fabric which aims to improve not only the structural aspects but
also the social and economic ones, in the wake of the renewed interest and greater awareness regarding the importance of the recovery and valorisation of the historical and artistic resources of the territory, for which numerous timely and widespread interventions have been initiated by the local authority for its valorisation, regeneration and conservation.
In order to frame the actual state of the social and building fabric of the Historic Center of the Municipality of Altamura, it is useful to highlight that, according to the Degradation Indices defined pursuant to the Prime Ministerial Decree of 15 October 2015, calculated on the basis of Istat data of According to the 2011 census, the historic center area has a social hardship index of 7.82 compared to 5.43 for the entire municipality and a building hardship index of 2.23 compared to 1.23 for the entire municipality. Interventions located in the Historic Center and aimed at its physical and social redevelopment therefore appear highly appropriate.
The applied methodology is based on the indispensability of correct and scientific historical knowledge, which becomes preliminary to any operational choice that wants to “recover” the meaning and historical sense of places, and bring them back to their original social function, improving their decorum, accessibility, the perception of safety and the provision of services.
The Historic Center itself is assumed as a pilot to guide the process of urban renewal and valorisation, it is already the subject of funded interventions included in the National Plan for the redevelopment of degraded urban areas referred to in the aforementioned Prime Ministerial Decree of 15 October 2015 and, according to the Missions defined by the PNRR , with a series of interventions that aim at a total redevelopment of the same, wants to become a place representative of the quality of living, a place dedicated to the reception and development of tourism 4.0, an example of
Sustainable Development.
The intervention in question involves the total renewal of the most recent stone paving, built in the 90s, largely damaged, of the underground services, of the system elements and networks, as well as the insertion of street furniture objects in the central artery of the historic center and in the squares
adjacent to the main emergencies of the urban fabric (the Cathedral, the City Palace), the main showcase of the entire city and a historical and representative place of city life.

The nursery school project in the Trentacapilli area has been financed
The municipal administration announces that the project for a municipal kindergarten in Trentacapilli has been financed. In fact, the ranking of the New Nursery School Plan has been published by the Ministry of Education and Merit, drawing on PNRR Mission 4 “Education and research” resources, for an amount of 2 million 592 thousand euros for the project Municipality of Altamura. There are 108 places planned to give families in the area the opportunity to reconcile family and work needs.

Summer Centers 2024: expression of interest
Following the Municipal Council Resolution n. 72 of 06.13.2024, the following notice was published aimed at the promoters of summer centers in the Municipality of Altamura – Private Schools, Sports Associations/Societies, Oratories, Parishes, Social Cooperatives and various Associations (cultural, social, volunteering, etc.) – who want to create summer centers in the structures made available free of charge by the Municipal Authority.
The summer centers must be aimed at minors between 3 and 14 years old, approximately from 01.07.2024 to 12.08.2024, unless otherwise assessed for carrying out activities in the morning hours.

Free or semi-free supply of textbooks (school year 2024-25)
We inform you that with the act of the Director of the “Education and University” Section n. 193 of 06/06/24, the Puglia Region has adopted the Public Notice relating to the granting of the benefit of the free or semi-free supply of textbooks for the school year. 2024-25.
The online application insertion procedure will be active in two time windows:
– from 12.00 on 17/06/24 to 12.00 on 31/07/24;
– from 12.00 on 05/09/24 to 12.00 on 16/09/24 (after this deadline the system will not accept further transmissions of requests).
The disbursement of the contributions in question is subject to the presentation of fiscally valid expense receipts relating to the purchase of textbooks in the school year. 2024/2025 (invoices, receipts, tax receipts), to be sent by email by 30 November 2024 to [email protected]. The deadlines for the conclusion of the procedure begin from this deadline, pursuant to L.241/90.
