The first Flixbus intelligent pole in Turin

From today people departing from Turin with FlixBus will be able to benefit from a new service. At the bus terminal in Corso Vittorio Emanuele II, which the green bus company connects with over 200 cities across Europe, the first digital pole is in operation, which will provide passengers with real-time updates on their journey.

The pole was inaugurated on the morning of Friday 14 June in the presence of Chiara FogliettaCouncilor for Ecological and Digital Transition, Innovation, Mobility and Transport of the Municipality of Turin, who welcomed the FlixBus initiative.

«Improving people’s travel experience through infomobility, encouraging intermodality and making available to those who need to move within the city, as well as between cities, different transport systems, on road and rail, with particular attention sustainable mobility, thanks to the use of vehicles with reduced environmental impact, is among our objectives administration”, commented the Councillor Chiara Foglietta. «In recent years, buses have become a concrete option for long-distance travel thanks also to those who imagined making this transport model more economical and sustainable, giving it a new notoriety and a second youth».

The pole was produced by the company Nebri-Tech Srl, specialized in digital solutions, and uses a real-time information system based on GTFS (General Transit Feed Specification) technology that provides updates on timetables and other service information. It is equipped with a water-resistant screen that is easily readable both day and night thanks to the lighting, and uses solar energy charging technology that makes it independent of the city grid.

Turin is connected by the FlixBus service with over 200 cities throughout Europe, and represents an important international hub for the company: in addition to numerous large, medium and small Italian cities, this number also includes important foreign destinations such as Paris, Marseille, Lyon, Barcelona, ​​Geneva, Zurich, Munich, Frankfurt, Budapest and Zagreb.

In addition to the Corso Vittorio Emanuele II terminal, green buses currently also stop at the Torino Lingotto and Torino Stura stations.

Summer connections will depart for Western Liguria on 20 June, with stops also in Caselle and Ciriè

Staying on the subject of news for the Turin area, special connections to Western Liguria will start on Thursday 20 June, connecting Turin with 18 seaside destinations.

Every morning a bus will connect the city with Spotorno, Noli, Varigotti, Finale Ligure, Pietra Ligure, Loano, Borghetto Santo Spirito, Ceriale, Albenga, Alassio, Laigueglia, Marina di Andora, Diano Marina, Imperia, San Lorenzo al Mare, Arma di Taggia, Bordighera and Ventimiglia. Trips can already be booked on the website www.flixbus.it, from the free app and at official retailers in the area.

In addition to the Corso Vittorio Emanuele II terminal and the Torino Lingotto and Torino Stura stations, you can also depart from Ciriè and Caselle airport, where FlixBus has inaugurated two new stops.
