Alto Adige’s exports in the first quarter of 2024 recorded an increase of 9.6% compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching a total of 1.856 billion euros. This is what the export data for the period January-March 2024 published by Astat reveals.
“The data is a source of satisfaction. They confirm the great commitment of our companies, thanks to which they are able to increase their presence in particular on European markets. However, slight declines were recorded in non-European markets. We are therefore more than ever called to strengthen Europe’s competitiveness on global markets together” underlines the President of Confindustria Alto Adige, Heiner Oberrauch.
Another aspect that emerges from the data is that innovative products are driving exports. The export of electrical appliances has almost tripled and this sector has become the new leader in South Tyrolean exports. “The contribution of our local industrial companies with innovative and high-tech production is decisive in this sense. The result certifies the high quality of the products and the great innovative strength of our high-tech companies, as well as the high productivity of our collaborators, as well as the need to invest more in technical training” continues the President of Confindustria Alto Adige.
However, the positive trend in exports should not be taken for granted. “Competition between businesses is global. We therefore need measures, at European, Italian and provincial level, aimed at guaranteeing the best environmental conditions for businesses, putting policies that strengthen their competitiveness at the centre. In this way it will be possible to support the growth of local industrial companies and thus guarantee our high-quality jobs, investments in the area, the financing of public services, the level of tax revenues and, therefore, the well-being of South Tyrol ”, concludes the President of Confindustria Alto Adige.
