Motorcycle – News, Oliveira amazes at Misano with the Aprilia RS 660 Extrema in the Race of Stars

Last Saturday 8 June the Misano racetrack was the scene of a record-breaking edition of the Aprilia All Stars: between the many activities dedicated to them, the over twenty thousand enthusiasts who invaded the paddock of the Romagna circuit were able to witness the Race of Stars, an original challenge in pairs between the best Aprilia riders of the present and past, riding completely standard Aprilia RS 660 Extrema.

The race regulations, drawn up in collaboration with FMI, in fact required that the RS 660 Extrema be exactly as they left the assembly line, with the sole exception of the rear-view mirrors and the license plate holder, removed for use on the track. The pilots therefore raced with the RS 660 Extrema in its original configuration and with the ABS system regularly active. Also interesting is the fact that the suspension set up used is the one suggested for track use in the bike’s use and maintenance manual, on which none of the competing champions had the need to intervene.

The result was an exciting challenge, started with a spectacular Le Mans-style start and enlivened by two driver changes, which saw the drivers squeeze out all the potential of the Noale sports medium in the Extrema version – the sportiest and lightest in the range , 166 kg dry for 100 HP -, fitted with Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SC1 tires for the occasion.

A race in which the champions had a lot of fun and which saw the pair formed by prevail Miguel Oliveira, MotoGP rider of the Trackhouse team, and the MotoGP legend Loris Capirossi. And it was the Portuguese driver of the Trackhouse team who set the record lap, in 1’45”467. But all the drivers, both in practice and in the race, ran sensational times, sensational results, constantly between 45″ and 46″, obtained only after a few laps available for qualifying, which once again demonstrate the great performance qualities of Noale’s sporting average and its ease.

An extremely fun motorbike, born and designed for fun on the road, but also super effective on the curbs and whose dynamic qualities, among which the cornering speed stands out, are now a worldwide point of reference among production motorbikes .

Thanks to Aprilia’s successful 660 project, capable of interpreting sportiness in an innovative and modern way, through a series of light and high-performance motorcycles, with technical and electronic equipment usually reserved for higher category models. Motorcycles capable of providing thrills in sporty riding but at the same time accessible and fun even in daily use and in the hands of new motorcyclists.

Aprilia RS 660 Extrema

It is the lightest and sportiest RS 660 in the range. Thanks to the refined and standard components, RS 660 Extrema tips the scales at just 166 kg dry, establishing a new record in terms of the ratio between weight and power (which stands at 100 HP, a record for the category).

The standard equipment includes a lighter exhaust system approved by SC Project with a carbon terminal positioned on the right side (and no longer under the engine). The front mudguard and the under-engine tip with a new design also contribute to the overall weight reduction, both made of high-quality carbon.

The sporty nature of the RS 660 Extrema is also emphasized by the single-seater tail (the passenger seat is supplied with the bike); to the rich electronic equipment already standard on the RS 660 (which includes traction control, ABS cornering, engine brake, engine map, wheelie control, all adjustable), the RS 660 Extrema also features the software that allows you to set the quick shift gearbox in reverse configuration. In this way the gearbox can be configured in total autonomy, without replacing any component of the motorbike, in road or reverse version – ideal for riding on the track during track days.
