Toscana Aeroporti has inaugurated an exhibition to promote the tradition of June Pisano. From 14 to 29 June, Pisa’s Galileo Galilei Airport will be set up to celebrate the June Pisano initiatives
PISA – Tuscany Airports in the presence of the Mayor of Pisa and the CEO Roberto Naldi, inaugurated the exhibition inside the airport to celebrate and promote the events organized by the Municipality on the occasion of Giugno Pisano, a traditional city initiative to celebrate its Patron Saint. Thanks to this setup, the numerous passengers traveling to and from the Pisan airport will be able to immerse themselves in the culture and historicity of the city’s traditions.
The exhibition will end on June 29th, on the occasion of the famous Gioco del Ponte. Information panels have been installed outside the arrivals area with captions and photos that tell the history and traditions of June Pisano. Inside the airport, however, visitors will find a display in the baggage claim room which reconstructs some characteristic elements of this celebration, such as wooden shields and historical costumes.
Pisan June is a month full of cultural, historical and folkloristic events that celebrate the identity and traditions of Pisa. The Luminara of San Ranieri will be held on 16 June, the date on which the airport will also light up like the buildings on the Lungarno, and the fireworks show along the banks of the Arno. On the afternoon of June 17th, the day of the city’s patron saint, the regatta will take place on the waters of the river between the four oldest city districts. Finally, the month ends with the Bridge Game, a historical re-enactment that involves the whole city in a spectacular challenge between the factions.
