Finally: here is the new Big Panda! But for Turin it is a joke – Turin Chronicle

It has finally been revealed to the public: conceived in Turin, in the heart of the Fiat empire, but built in Serbia. This is the new Grande Panda, of which Fiat has released the first images, taken on the Lingotto track. It will be the precursor of a new global range based on a multi-energy platform. This new model inaugurates the FIAT brand’s transition from local production to a global offering, developed on a common platform, the STLA Smart, and which every year will see the debut of a new model from this family: from SUVs to crossovers.

The Big Panda will be introduced first in Europe, the Middle East and Africa and will be available in electric and hybrid versions. Olivier Francois, CEO of FIAT and global CMO of Stellantis, said: “The best way to celebrate 125 years of FIAT is to start writing the first pages of our future, starting with the new Grande Panda. Designed in Turin by our Style Center, the new FIAT car embodies the values of the original Panda. Aiming to consolidate the brand’s global presence, this compact car is based on a global platform. Thanks to the Grande Panda, FIAT begins its transition towards common global platforms that reach all regions of the world, transferring the resulting benefits to its international customers. In fact, the Grande Panda is ideal for families and for urban mobility in every country… it’s a real FIAT!”

Designed in Italy at the Turin Style Centre, the Fiat Grande Panda stands out from other B-segment cars for its exceptional compactness, with a length of just 3.99 meters – less than the segment average, which is 4.06 meters – and characterized by sober lines and a well-organised space thanks to its compact volume. The new model is capable of transporting up to five people and is perfect for family life and contemporary urban mobility. The volume appears robust and well structured, conferring strength through its originality, while the dynamic and incisive design of the bodywork is generated by very taut profile lines.

The exterior of the new Fiat Grande Panda features a special combination of structured lines and soft but decisive surfaces, which highlight the robust wheel arches. With a strong reference to the square lines of its 80s progenitor but with design elements to underline, say Fiat, the strong Italian character of the brand, also thanks to the bright colours.

Production, as mentioned, will be in the factory Kragujevac in Serbia. A choice announced already in recent months, among other things in the presence of Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, in Stellantis’ investment plan abroad. Almost a mockery, it was said, for Mirafiori which is desperately waiting for a real restart, which will hopefully come from the hybrid Fiat 500. The official presentation will take place on 11 July, the day of Fiat’s 125th birthday, then by the end of the year the Panda will be on the market. In Pomigliano, however, the Pandina will remain until 2030, in the hybrid version.
