The electronic cereal register is essential. The battle of the Confederacy continues
Parliament should propose again in the Agriculture Decree the establishment of Granaio Italia, the electronic register of cereal stocks, which is fundamental for bringing transparency to the markets and protecting Made in Italy production. Thus Cia-Italian Farmers regarding a battle to defend the sector that has been going on for too long, which had disappeared from the initial drafts of the Decree and which the Confederation continues, however, to consider essential.
For Cia, in fact, further efforts are needed to make the Agriculture Decree a real driving force for the recovery of the sector. We need to do it now, with adequate measures and resources, to give concrete answers to the sector in crisis and strengthen agricultural Italy close to a new EU legislature.
Cia, therefore, insists on Granaio Italia and the urgency of monitoring cereal production. It is unthinkable to move forward without containment policies on the part of Europe, while the peninsula records a decline in the areas cultivated with durum wheat of around 130 thousand hectares. The national electronic register is an important tool for keeping the consistency of cereal stocks under control, also for the purpose of placing useful information on the market to reduce price volatility. It therefore represents the recognition of the value of the sector, to safeguard cereal growers, to promote true Made in Italy and to protect quality for consumers.
The CIA does not go back on this point, just as it supports the need for an Observatory for monitoring the average costs of agricultural production. Then there is the input for a further extension to 31 December of this year of the insurance obligation for tractors and agricultural machinery not circulating on the road. To strengthen the framework of the mortgage moratorium, Cia instead calls for supervisory interventions to prevent farmers from remaining subject to the decision of each individual bank on whether to accept their request. Finally, in the Cia file, the refinancing of the Fund for the development and support of agricultural supply chains is also needed for production with high added value, but in an atavistic crisis, such as that linked to periculture”.
