Monza: The redevelopment work on the final stretch of Via Bergamo will begin on Monday 17th

Work starting from Monday 17 June for the final stretch of via Bergamo in Monza, from number 28 and number 32f and at the intersection with via A. Canova. The area will be subject to a redevelopment similar to the works already carried out in the previous sections of the street, and the intervention will be completed by the end of August.

The redevelopment work on the final stretch of Via Bergamo will begin on Monday 17th

The works involve the renovation of roads and sidewalks over an area of approximately 685 square meters. The first phase will consist of removing the surface layer of asphalt, the filling material and approximately 25 cm of gravel which constitutes the road base. The road pavement will therefore be redone by lowering the road, which is currently at the same level as the pavement, to conform to the already renovated section. This will also involve modifying the slopes and moving the drains. Furthermore, the manholes will be repositioned at high altitude and grids will be created for the planting of new species, maintaining the tree variety already present. Porphyry and serizzo slabs will be used for the new flooring and finally a pedestrian crossing will be created in continuity with the passages already created in the previous section.

The intervention is aimed at improving the quality of the road and sidewalks, ensuring greater aesthetic coherence with the already renovated surrounding areas, and therefore making one of the liveliest streets in the city fully attractive.

The works – with a total value of €232,868.66 – are carried out under an ongoing agreement at the care and expense of the operator.

How circulation changes

To allow the work to be carried out, from 8 am on 17 June 2024 until the works are completed, circulation and parking will be prohibited along via Bergamo in the stretch between the intersection with via E. da Monza and the intersection with via A. Canova. Only residents’ vehicles destined for the driveways present in the section and emergency and rescue vehicles will be able to access, with the help of traffic personnel during the hours of presence on the construction site. In the section, which is effectively dead-end, in derogation of the regulations in force, two-way traffic will be established starting from the aforementioned intersections up to the construction site area. Furthermore, due to the works, the antiques market scheduled for June 23rd will take place on October 27th.

“The intervention – states the Councilor for Public Works Marco Lamperti – will allow us to restore the face it deserves to via Bergamo, one of the main streets of the urban structure of Monza both for its historical importance and for its function as a true out-of-town village”.

“This is – observes the Councilor for Tourism and Commerce Carlo Abba – of an intervention made possible by the availability of everyone: traders, condominium administrators and associations. The Municipality’s technicians have planned how to minimize possible inconveniences, but any construction site problems will be addressed and resolved together, as always, sharing the remedies with the same spirit of collaboration that has existed up to now. This adds another piece to the attractiveness of our city.”
