The Municipality’s website is renewed thanks to a PNRR loan

The new institutional website of the Municipality of Monza www.comune.monza.it has been online for a few days.

The project to review the content architecture and graphic design, together with the activation of new features, was possible thanks to the funding provided by the PNRR funds – National Recovery and Resilience Plan for the 2026 digital PA as part of the – Measure 1.4.1 “Citizen experience in public services”.

The announcement
The Municipality of Monza, which participated in the tender promoted by the Ministry for Technological Innovation and Digital Transition (MITD) in June 2022, entrusted the construction of the infrastructure to Maggioli SpA, to create the portal strictly respecting the Guidelines of Designers Italia for PA websites, drawn up by the Agency for Digital Italy (AgID) in collaboration with the Department for Digital Transformation.

L’main goal is to adapt the browsing and content consultation experience of users to the web standards of usability, accessibility and design common to the entire Public Administration.

In this sense, particular attention was paid to the implementation of possibilities to make contents accessible to disabled users or those with limited technological equipment.

The work carried out in recent months, coordinated by the Web Office – Institutional Communication and External Relations Service, involved a network of dozens of editors present in the various offices to update the contents and reorganize them favoring the logic of “service to the citizen”.

The news
The site features a new, simple and schematic graphic design and a new navigation mode, easier on both desktop and mobile.
The effort made was also aimed at improving the clarity of the language, the readability of the texts and the qualitative uniformity of the images.

As required by the rigid taxonomy imposed by AgID, the information has been reorganized starting from four essential macro-items: Administration, with information relating to the management of the institution from a political and administrative point of view and with contact details for offices and sectors; News, with news, press releases and alerts to stay updated on the latest news, opportunities and what’s happening in the area; Services, with detailed information on digital and analogue services, presented through detailed descriptive guides; Experiencing the Municipality (events and places), with indications relating to places of interest and events that concern the municipal territory.

Reports, Reservations, Contacts and FAQs complete the assistance service and direct contact with the organisation.

Topics and thematic sites
To more easily search for a topic of interest, you can browse the site by topic, selecting them directly from the homepage, in the red “header” at the top right: from here you will have access to all the pages that relate to a specific topic.
To explore the most prominent contents, it is also possible to select one of the thematic sites always present on the homepage including: online services, transparent administration, praetorian register and City Council.

Listening and work in progress
The project foresees new implementations in the coming weeks, in a path of continuous innovation and improvement of the organisation’s communication systems.
In this first phase, you may still encounter some difficulties in navigation, due to the change to the menu: in these situations, you are advised to carry out searches for specific documents and topics, favoring navigation within the site and not using the most popular search engines, which still require some time to update indexing.

The sworn statement
Following the “go-live” which took place in recent days, the Municipality now has around six months to further refine the navigation experience and complete the testing of the new services – after the ongoing online testing phase – before launching the certification operation.
This verification, which will be carried out directly by AgID technicians to check the actual compliance of the new site with the 20 required requirements, will allow the Municipality to achieve the positive outcome of the certification and therefore the disbursement of the expected funding, equal to 162,545 EUR.

“The new website it is built for provide quality services: the objective is to consolidate the role of the institutional portal as a point of reference for easily finding useful, timely and updated information, for submitting requests or participating in tenders directly online. We await useful suggestions from citizens to further improve aspects relating to the enjoyment and use of the site itself”, explains the Mayor Paolo Pilotto.
