SULMONA – Last day the soldiers of the Guardia di Finanza of Sulmona, directed by Capt. Cecilia Tangredi, as part of an activity coordinated by the local Public Prosecutor’s Office, located an area where 29 were positioned, placed in special vases, cannabis plants, each equipped with a specific label, necessary to identify the type of illegal substance for THC values above the permitted limits.
The cultivation place, delimited by bushes, brambles and hidden by a very dense vegetation such as not to
allow for easy identification, it was also located thanks to the help of targeted technical activities and instruments.
The installation of a video surveillance system on site, aimed at identifying the person responsible for taking care of the illegal plantation, made it possible to arrest a man from Sulmona in flagrante delicto for violation of the art. 73 of Presidential Decree 309/1990, to seize the plantation and identify a room used as a laboratory, equipped with the most sophisticated electronic and chemical equipment that allowed maximizing the yields of the plants, where the substance was extrapolated and packaged to put it on the market .
The man was taken to the Sulmona prison, on the orders of the PM Dr. Edoardo Mariotti, and everything found necessary for the cultivation, transformation and trade of cannabis was subjected to seizure: 25,500 cannabis seeds, a mini greenhouse heated by germination, various electronic humidity and pH meters, 40 bottles of specific fertilizers, 400 plant pots, packaging jars, scales and dispensers, droppers, measuring spoons, germination supplements and accelerators, pressure pumps for irrigation and pumps for decanting.
The suspect will be considered guilty of the crimes ascribed when the final sentence of conviction occurs. The activity carried out testifies to the solid presence of the Guardia di Finanza in combating the detention and dealing of narcotic substances and is part of the constant attention paid to the L’Aquila area aiming at the protection of human life and, in particular, of the young generations.
