Four months after its opening, the ‘new’ birth center in Sanremo blows out its 100th candle. Last Wednesday, in fact, the 100th baby was born, a baby son of a Bangladeshi couple living in Sanremo.

“We are very satisfied – underlines the DG of Asl1 Dr. Maria Elena Galbusera – we are talking about an excellent department made up of two delivery rooms, one of which is demedicalized for low obstetric risk births, the ‘Casa del Parto’ model, a family and home environment. But not only that, emergency management is guaranteed with active anaesthesiological, gynecological and neonatal on-call, as well as a complete supply of electro-medical equipment and blood components. an added value for the territory, the result of great team work carried out in synergy with the Liguria Region and the Gaslini Institute”.

But let’s get to the numbers: as far as mothers are concerned, 57% are Italian, while the remaining 43% are divided as follows: 15% European, 9% Asian, 1% North American, 9% South American and 9% African. Out of 100 newborns (of which 16 by cesarean section), 65 are male and 35 female. Finally, from February to today, in terms of medical interventions, 424 cases have been managed from the Emergency Department and the Day Hospital and Day Surgery activities amounted to 34 services.
