It took place on the evening of June 12th, in the cloister of the former San Francesco Convent, now barracks “Alfredo Tramacere” of the Guardia di Finanza of Lecce, the award ceremony for the works created as part of the ideas competition “Young people in a workmanlike manner” banned by the Provincial Command of Yellow Flames together with the Regional School Office for Puglia – VI Territorial Area Office for the Province of Lecce.
The project, which is part of the initiatives relating to the 250th anniversary of the foundation of the Corps, was started at the beginning of the school career and involved the artistic high schools of the city of Lecce and the municipalities of Galatina, Nardò and Parabita , whose students tried their hand at producing dedicated works on the Financial Police.
Bas-relief, painting and sculpture were the sectors in which over 200 students worked and produced 79 works.

For the section sculpture: 1st place ‘Saint Matthew, protector of the yellow flames’ of the Liceo Pietro Colonna Galatina; 2nd place ‘nec recisa recedit’ of the Ciardo Pellegrino Lecce High School; 3rd place ‘the triumphant griffin’ of the Liceo Pietro Colonna Galatina; 4th place in ‘financial police forms’ of the Ciardo Pellegrino Lecce high school. Furthermore, the students of the Ciardo Pellegrino high schools of Lecce and Ezio Vanoni Nardò, intended to donate nine magnificent works entitled: From Fiume to Fidelity and Perpetual Courage, Legality = Freedom, Scacco Matto, come Granelli di Sabbia, to the Guardia di Finanza. , Tribute to the 250th Anniversary of the GDF, … 250 in Legality, Light on the Border, Meeting Point and Legitimate Defense.
The winners were awarded by the Prefect of the Province of Lecce, Luca Rotondithe President of the Court of Appeal of Lecce, Roberto Maria Carrelli Palombi of Montrone and the Metropolitan Archbishop of the City of Lecce, Monsignor Michele Secciaaccompanied by the professors responsible for the competition, Marco Serra from the Ciardo Pellegrino High School in Lecce, Jenny Manisco from the Enrico Giannelli High School in Parabita, Ivan Giannaccari from the Pietro Colonna High School in Galatina, Prof. Francesco Tarantino and Andrea Rizzo from the Ezio Vanoni High School in Nardò.
Among the guests were the highest civil, religious and military provincial authorities, as well as Albano Carrisi who gave a short but intense greeting to the organizers of the ceremony and to the large audience present as well as an affectionate wish of good luck to the new young artists.
The awards event was enlivened by the concert of the flute ensemble ‘fortunae flatus’, directed by maestro Luigi Bisanti of the ‘Tito Schipa’ music conservatory of Lecce.
On stage, among others, the Provincial Commander of the Guardia di Finanza Colonel Stefano Ciottithe Director of the Regional School Office for Puglia – Office VI Territorial Area for the Province of Lecce, Mario Trifiletti, the Vice President of the Province of Lecce, Tarantino, the President of the ‘Splendor Fidei’ Foundation of Lecce, Monsignor Antonio Montinaro , the Master of the ‘Tito Schipa’ Conservatory of Lecce’ Corrado Nicola De Bernart, the four directors of the artistic high schools, Maria Rita Meleleo, Angelo De Stradis, Cosimo Preite and Marco Serra (representing the Director Raffaele Capone), as well as the members of the judging commission Antonio Perrone, Carmen Leo, Antonio Miglietta and the Maggiore Giuseppe Lorenzowho expressed words of appreciation for the extraordinary initiative that brings the new generations ever closer to the institutions.
