Today’s edition of “Il Giornale di Sicilia” focuses on the fate of the former Palermo players who were protagonists of the promotion to Serie B.
Palermo’s promotion to Serie B could have represented a springboard towards top-level football, but none of Palermo’s players managed to make the big leap. Many have instead followed the opposite path, remaining in Serie C with often less than optimal results. Only Felici and Luperini managed to carve out a role for themselves in the cadettery, even if both ended the season with a bitter relegation: Felici with Feralpisalò and Luperini with Ternana. However, both have made significant impacts and could have other opportunities in the major leagues; Felici scored 4 goals and provided 5 assists, attracting the interest of several teams, even from the top flight, while Luperini scored 4 goals and worked hard in midfield, demonstrating his value.
Other Notable Players
De Rose and Floriano:
De Rose was a key player for Cesena, who achieved promotion to Serie B after six years of absence. Floriano ended his career after winning the Serie D play-offs with Desenzano. In his three years in Palermo, he played 92 games and scored 22 goals.
Several other players had less brilliant seasons:
Valente and Perrotta in Padua, Lancini in Novara, Dall’Oglio in Avellino, Massolo in Vicenza, where he was sent as a counterpart in the Desplanches affair.

Giron in Crotone, with 10 assists.
Silipo at Monterosi Tuscia, with 3 goals and 4 assists, but the team was relegated.
Odjer in Foggia, who did not qualify for the play-offs.

Accardi with Francavilla, who played his last match on January 6th.
Crivello with Monterosi, both teams were relegated to Serie D, with Monterosi directly relegated and Francavilla via play-out.
The current situation of the players who contributed to Palermo’s promotion to Serie B is a reflection of the difficulties encountered in maintaining the level of performance required to compete at a high level. Although some have found success in other teams, many are still trying to stabilize and find their right place in the Italian football landscape.
