On Sunday 7 July 2024 the 3rd edition of the “La Velletrana Historic Cycle”organized by the municipal AVIS of Velletri. After the success achieved in the last edition, this year too, magnificent and typical landscapes of the Veliterne lands will be proposed again, including natural, archaeological and food and wine beauties.
The exhibition fits within the framework of events of theSummer Veliterna 2024which will see the citizens of Velletri and visitors participate in numerous initiatives with music, sports, entertainment and food and wine specialties. This year the route includes the meeting for the collection of the race packets between 07.30 and 08.30 at the Palazzetto dello Sport Palabandinelli in Velletri, and then moving to Piazza Cairoli from where the event is scheduled to start at 09.00 .
Participants will be able to choose whether to participate in the Ciclostorica by covering a long 43 km loop or a shorter 30 km loop. The arrival is expected at the place of the initial meeting, at the Palazzetto dello Sport Palabandinelli, where lunch will be offered to all participants. Among the “institutionally” scheduled stops, we have the Colle di Maggio wine farm approximately 8 km from the start, the Casa Vinicola Ciccariello approximately 15 km away and the Casale Battista agricultural company 22 km away.
The competition is reserved for vintage racing bicycles – built before 1987 – and vintage or vintage style walking/work bicycles, on asphalted and dirt roads, reserved for cyclists with clothing consistent with the theme or however of historical/vintage inspiration. Participants must be in possession of a medical certification of competitive fitness to practice cycling, issued by the competent sports medicine centres, which must deliver it to the organization at the time of registration verification and delivery of bibs. The registration fee by July 4th is €20.00, while from July 5th to 7th it will be possible to pay €25.00 in cash only. The registration fee for the routes includes the ‘race pack’ containing the race number with the race number, typical features of the area and gadgets. In addition to this, it includes a travel sheet, refreshments along the routes, toilets and a pasta party at the end of the event.
