The one to hold out his hand for a possible connection is Green Left Alliancewhich had already proved decisive in other municipalities in defeating the centre-right, through its candidate for mayor Luca Valcarenghi.

“The ballot is a numbers game, where a single vote can change the outcome – he explains -. The day after the outcome of the first round, he activated contact with the local PD and the Civic List, but to date there has been no timely response. We are sure that candidate Paola Suardi is aware that Avs votes are important to have a better chance of winning. The results of the European elections for Avs (5.62% and 496 votes, ed) and administrative (2.88% and 256 votes, ed) could be advantageous for Paola Suardi in the event of a tie-up. The result we obtained in the local elections compared to the European elections was expected because the logic of the ‘useful vote’ prevailed, as some of our voters confirmed to us. If the agreement does not materialize, it would be the only case in Lombardy where the PD chooses the narrow field rather than the agreement with Avs, as would be natural”.

Valcarenghi then rules out any contact with the other candidate on the ballot, Gianfranco Gafforelli: “We are a centre-left force, therefore an agreement with the centre-right is excluded”.

The Democratic Party and the Civic List that bears my name have a concrete, achievable and innovative program. I am convinced that the over 250 Romanians who gave preference to the Green and Left Alliance in the first round will have the opportunity to recognize themselves in our idea of the City. A natural synergy that will certainly find space through wide-ranging political programs, without the need to sign agreements or political affiliations, in a mere logic of sharing seats. Proposals light years away from our idea of understanding politics at the service of citizens. In recent years our coalition has demonstrated to my fellow citizens that it is a united, coherent and credible political force. We continue on this path.”
