It has within it the stories of mermaids, of whales that swallow wooden children, it has the dances of the waves that rise and fall when the strokes break the surface and push the body towards the blue edge of the pool, while the heart beats strongly and the breath blows bubbles until the whistle ends the match and declares the winner.
Sport Project – Bitonto municipal swimming pool has been able to create over time a youth movement around swimming, in which talents and emotions continuously mix, allowing young people involved in pool activities to cultivate friendship and passion, to share efforts and victories, defeats, objectives and values that will make their human essence forever. They will be capable of sacrifice, of withstanding the effort and finalizing it, of competing and committing themselves to give the world the best of themselves and of rejoicing even as adults as children in the immense grace of water. A primordial contact that will be able to save them in difficult moments and amplify the beauty of their dreams. Like when, in summer, you dive into the water at night and look at the stars.
Qualified in second place, with numerous medals won by its athletes in Regional Beginners A championships, which took place in Monopoli in April, the Sport Project company and its coaches Domenico La Tegola, Alessandra Caputo and Alessandro Martorelli, has achieved ever higher goals in the history of national competition. Also the Lorusso meetingwhich was held last May 25-26 in the CUS Bari swimming pools, saw the young athlete Andrea Pignatelli awarded for the best performance in the 400 freestyle.
When, almost twenty years ago, the municipal swimming pool of Bitonto was inaugurated, perhaps no one could have imagined how much this public investment would bring to the city. A city which, also thanks to its infrastructure, is currently experiencing a moment of great splendor in sport at many levels.
And if the structure offers many young people and adults the opportunity to practice one of the most loved and recommended sports, the daily commitment of the Sports Project nourishes the passion and healthy competitive spirit of the kids.
Thus the performances in freestyle swimming, backstroke and breaststroke of Francesco Attolico and Andrea Pignatelli shine, called up to the regional representative for the 26th Edition “Trofeo delle Regioni” Rookies A, the results of Natale Parisi, Lucia Cramarossa, Luisa Maldera, Antonio Paparella, together with the enthusiastic work of the young athletes of the team national water polo Bwho qualified for the quarter-finals by triumphing in Sicily.
To animate everyone’s dreams, the exceptional performances of theathlete Francesco Sicilianonow in nationalswimming member with the Sport Project company, Piscina Comunale di Bitonto, finswimming member with the Piscine Paradise ASD company of Santeramo, coached by Donato Lorè, who, with his 20.88 in the 50 fins, 45.73 in the 100 and 1:45.46 in the 200, he qualified for the European Youth Championships which will be held in Klaipeda, Lithuania, from June 25th to July 1st next.
