The celebrations of World Refugee Day 2024 promoted by the Badia Grande social cooperative have come to life in Marsala. In the splendid setting of Piazza della Vittoria (Porta Nuova), the municipal councilor for Social Services of the Municipality of Marsala Giusy Piccione, with the traditional “ball throw”, kicked off the human table football tournament. The meetings were attended by the Sports councilor Ignazio Bilardello, the social worker of the Municipality of Marsala Vincenza Lorena Cincotta, Greta Margagliotti (SAI Valderice, Alcamo and Palermo project coordinator), Lorena Tortorici (SAI Marsala project coordinator) and Valentina Vicari (Coordinator UASC area), as well as the multidisciplinary teams of the Reception Centers involved in the initiative. The second stage of the Human Table Football Tournament was played yesterday in Valderice. 7 of the 8 participating teams faced each other on the playing field, with the Marsala SAI team absent due to a technical problem, therefore 3 direct clashes and the fourth not played due to the absence of one of the two teams. Last night in Valderice, beyond the sporting and competitive moment of the migrant kids involved in the tournament, the machine of solidarity, welcome, integration and inclusion won. Numerous inhabitants of the town on the slopes of Monte Erice, including the mayor Francesco Stabile, attended the event and rejoiced together with the boys at every goal.
