Yesterday afternoon, in Asti, in Corso Alessandria, personnel from the State Police – Asti Police Headquarters intervened to stop a foreign citizen who, in the throes of a violent fury, had begun to damage shop windows and cars using a skateboard. The man had already broken the windows of four shops, the entrance window of an apartment building and damaged two cars.
The timely intervention of a State Police squad made it possible to identify the man who, at the sight of the officers, ignored the order to stop and had threatened to hit them with the same skateboard. At that point, one of the officers pulled out the taser supplied to the Police Force and, by renewing the order to put down the blunt object, managed to make the man desist from further violent behaviour. The foreigner was then searched, handcuffed and taken to the police station for further checks on his identity.
During the search carried out by State Police officers, a kitchen knife was found, which the man was unable to justify owning. This further element contributed to confirming the danger of man.
