L’AQUILA – Private citizens, businesses, associations and public bodies can collect wood on the ground, i.e. uprooted plants, trunks and branches, for the sole purpose of self-consumption, for a maximum length of 1 km, for a maximum limit of 50 quintals and for a maximum period of 60 days.
This concerns the areas belonging to the state river property, not privately owned, in the waterways under the jurisdiction of the Abruzzo Region, by submitting a specific request accompanied by tax stamps and investigation costs.
“To those who request it – explains the councilor for Public Works, Infrastructure and Transport, Umberto D’Annuntiis – it will be possible to procure wood for self-consumption, with a minimum economic contribution, simultaneously carrying out a service for the community, given that near the river banks there is the presence of woody material useful for the production of energy, coming from natural seasonal turnover processes and which is transported by floods, the collection of which allows us to contribute to the mitigation of flooding phenomena”.
“The method of submitting the request – continues the councilor – was regulated by the regional council resolution no. 19 of 01.18.2024, concerning ‘the Approval of the directive on the collection of wood present on the banks and banks of the watercourses under its jurisdiction regional’, which establishes how the application must be presented via certified e-mail, together with a cadastral plan with the exact location of the area accompanied by photographs of the current state of affairs and a copy of a valid identification document, revenue stamps and investigation costs, to the services of the Civil Engineers and for information to the territorially competent Forestry Carabinieri. In order to simplify the presentation of the application – concludes Umberto D’Annuntiis – the Civil Engineering offices have prepared a specific form, complete with declarations, with the list of documentation and payments to be made”.
