Brindisi, the vintage fair moves to Mesagne: it’s controversial

MESAGNE – The «Vinokilo Sale» moves from Brindisi to Mesagne. The traveling market of “vintage” clothes sold by the kilo will no longer take place in the capital, as originally advertised on posters and graphics, as no agreement has been reached between the Municipality and the organizers.

The proponents, in fact, had asked to occupy the former convent of Santa Chiara. A request that the municipal administration deemed inadmissible, also in light of what happened with the vinyl market, for which the column room was granted.

A choice that generated great controversy as many considered the concession of a historical-cultural asset for commercial purposes to be improper. History would have repeated itself if the administration had granted the former convent for the holding of the Vinokilo Sale.

The organizers, however, did not take it well. In fact, they released a note on social media in which they inform that «unfortunately the municipal administration of Brindisi has decided not to be able to host our event, but since we care about you, we have found a close solution. The event will take place on 21 and 22 June in Mesagne, at the Salento Fun Park.”

City councilor Roberto Quarta takes the defense of the majority.

«Given the experience with the vinyl market, it is no longer the case that commercial activities are carried out in places of cultural interest. Since these organizers intend to exploit the affair, they can easily go to Mesagne.”
