The wait is over. The season of great rides begins, to the delight of all fans, and on Saturday the Quintana of Foligno will be staged. A particular edition, this one in June, characterized above all by the return to the track of Luca Innocenzi. The champion, in fact, who last year was forced to skip both home rides due to the daspo that had reached him following the brawl that occurred on the playground in the official tests on 4 June 2023, ends his ‘penitence’ precisely in these days and on Saturday he will be able to compete again.
The Pertinace from the Cassero district, in reality, was not able to participate in the latest official tests, but will not have any particular problems in adapting to the route and the rings. The knight, therefore, will present himself as charged as ever to a Quintana for whom he cares in a particular way and for whom he will also play the role of favourite. Other riders from the Quintana di Ascoli will also take part in the race, scheduled for 9pm, in addition to Innocenzi: Lorenzo Melosso from Porta Romana who will race for the Badia district, Lorenzo Savini from Porta Maggiore who will defend the colors of the White Cross and Tommaso Finestra from Sant’Emidio who will take to the track for the Spada district.
Also in the running are the former Porta Maggiore knight Mattia Zannori for the Ammanniti district, the former red-green of Sant’Emidio Riccardo Raponi for the Giotti district and the current second knight of Piazzarola Mario Cavallari for Morlupo. Completing the picture are Luca Morosini for the La Mora district, Daniele Scarponi for Contrastanga and Raul Spera for Pugilli. Next week, however, on Wednesday 19 June, again from around 9pm, there will be the official timed trials of the Quintana di Ascoli, at the Squarcia field.
