Viterbo – The passage of the Mille Miglia

Viterbo – We receive and publish – Today the Mille Miglia returns to Viterbo.

“The route – as specified on the website of the municipality of Viterbo – includes the passage from Valle Faul, Piazza Martiri d’Unità, via Ascenzi and, a particularity this year, via Cavour and via Garibaldi at the exit”.

“From 3 pm – we read on the communication on the municipality’s Facebook page – a one-way traffic will be established along the following route reserved exclusively for participants in the event: Piazza del Plebiscito, Via Cavour, Piazza Fontana Grande, Via Garibaldi, Piazza S. Sisto , Porta Romana. It is reiterated that the cars participating in the 1000 Miglia will proceed in the reverse direction compared to the ordinary one”.

And so the road system will change for the passage of historic cars. In particular, vintage cars will travel “against traffic” on some roads that usually do not have that direction of travel. All to get the cars out of Porta Romana.

As a citizen I ask myself: was it really necessary to distort the road system in this way, especially at a time when the city appears rather congested with traffic?

A rather impactful change for an event which among other things does not make any real stops in Viterbo, but is only passing through the capital of Tuscia.

Madness for a city that is already suffering from traffic…
