Lucca, 13 June 2024 – Anticipation is growing for the event which will be broadcast worldwide by Rai Cultura on Rai3 on the occasion of the live concert by Maestro Riccardo Muti “Puccini according to Muti” which will be held in Lucca on June 28th at 9pm in the stands of the Renaissance Walls.

Just yesterday, in the Spadolini room of the Ministry of Culture, undersecretary Gianmarco Mazzi, in the presence of the mayor of Lucca Mario Pardini, of the president of the Teatro del Giglio Giorgio Angelo Lazzarini and the director of Rai Cultura, Silvia Calandrelli, the complete program of the evening was previewed to the press, included in the large program of celebrations for the centenary of the death of Giacomo Puccini.

The evening will feature performances the “Luigi Cherubini” orchestra conducted by Maestro Riccardo Muti, with the symphonic prelude “Un bel dì visto” by Madama Butterfly (soprano Eleonora Buratto). “Recondita armonia” from Tosca (tenor Luciano Ganci). “Che gelida manina” from La Bohème (tenor Dimitry Korchak). “Vissi d’arte” from Tosca (soprano Eleonora Buratto). “Ch’ella mi creda” from La Fanciulla del West (tenor Francesco Meli). Duet “O soave fanciulla” from La Bohème (soprano Mariangela Sicilia, tenor Dimitry Korchak). “Donde lieta” from La Bohème (soprano Mariangela Sicilia). “Senza Mamma” by Suor Angelica (soprano Lidia Fridman). “And the stars were shining” from Tosca (tenor Luciano Ganci). “Tu che di gel sei cinta” from Turandot (soprano Eleonora Buratto). Interlude from Manon Lescaut. In the end, Fourth act from Manon Lescaut (soprano Lidia Fridman, tenor Francesco Meli).

Great satisfaction was expressed by Undersecretary Mazzi: “We are faced with an event of great cultural importance – he states – which, after the one that occurred a short time ago at the Verona Arena, substantiates the policy of this ministry, thanks to the synergy with Rai Cultura,and represents the intent to spread the culture of “high” music, creating opportunities for knowledge”.

The hope for the concert in Lucca is to see at least 10 thousand people seated. Meanwhile, the mayor of Lucca Mario Pardini reiterated the exceptional nature of the event: “For the city it is a unique opportunity to be appreciated even more and the splendid setting of the Walls, thanks to the synergy with the “D’Alessandro e Galli” which makes the stage of the “Summer Festival” available, will make the difference; a historic event for the presence of Muti and the “Cherubini”, it also demonstrates the synergy with the territories dear to Puccini, from Lucca hometown in Torre del Lago and Pescaglia, clear sign of a work useful for the promotion and diffusion of the life and work of Giacomo Puccini”.
