SULMONA. A 32-year-old musician was arrested by the police because he set up greenhouses used for the cultivation of cannabis inside a former factory.
Yesterday evening, during checks in a peripheral street of the city, the soldiers entered a former factory undergoing bankruptcy proceedings, whose door was open. There were two people inside, one turned out to be the 32-year-old tenant and therefore the user of some rooms in the building equipped as a “music room”, rented out by the bankruptcy trustee.
However, the police heard gusts of the typical acrid smell of marijuana plants coming from the locals. Hence the immediate search of both those arrested and of all the premises resulting in the tenant’s availability. The man who was with him was found in possession of a small quantity of marijuana: he was immediately released after reporting it to the Prefecture.
The young tenant of the premises, however, was detained and subjected to a more in-depth search which was then extended to the private home. The carabinieri of the Company command also participated in the operation. In some rooms of the old factory, not reconsidered in the rental contract, but arbitrarily occupied by the 32-year-old, real small greenhouses were found, complete with humidifiers and aerators, used for the cultivation of cannabis. Seizures by the police
In all, the military was able to seize 10 marijuana plants measuring between 20 and 100 centimeters in height, as well as everything necessary to care for and fertilize them. Also found and seized were 84 grams of already dried “grass” and almost 55 grams of cocaine divided into single doses. Also seized were a couple of grams of hashish and the cash sum of around 200 euros found during the house search of the arrested person.
Once the anti-drug operation, which continued throughout the night, was concluded, the 32-year-old, with a passion for music, but not only that, was arrested in flagrante delicto for illicit production and possession of narcotic substances.
