Acireale is also among the stations affected

The 58 million restyling for another 17 RFI stations will start soon.

The announcement came through a press release: “The commitment of Rete Ferroviaria Italiana, the lead company of the Infrastructure Hub of the Fs Italiane group, continues for the redevelopment and modernization of the over 2,000 stations present throughout the national territory. In recent days in fact – it is read – a tender divided into three lots worth over 58 million euros was awarded, also financed with Pnrr funds, for the design and implementation of maintenance interventions on buildings and external areas which will affect 17 railway yards, from north to south of the country. In particular, with a view to making the stations increasingly hubs of urban connection, the internal rooms of the passenger buildings will be renovated, accessibility in the station will be improved through the removal of architectural barriers and the external areas will be redeveloped“.

The works will affect the stations of Chatillon Saint Vincent, Donnas, Pont Saint Martin, Verres (Valle d’Aosta), Alessandria and Borgofranco (Piedmont), Romano di Lombardia (Lombardy), Merano (Trentino-Alto Adige), Longarone, Venezia Porto Marghera (Veneto), Montecatini (Tuscany), Giulianova (Abruzzo), Caserta (Campania), Potenza Superiore (Basilicata), Monopoli, Trinitapoli (Puglia), Acireale (Sicily).

The CEO and general director of RFI expressed his opinion on the work, Gianpiero Strisciuglio: “We pay great attention to the stations which are the gateways to our cities. Our goal is to improve people’s travel experience. In the last twelve months we have awarded tenders for redevelopment works in stations worth approximately 960 million“.
