The first edition of the Festival of social envy, from zero to zero, scheduled in Matera on 22 June 2024, will be illustrated at a press conference on Monday 17 June at 12.00, under the porticoes of the Tommaso Stigliani Library in Matera.
During the Festival there will be moments of cultural study, experiential activities, recitals, performances and artistic and digital installations dedicated to the phenomenon of social envy.
A preview of the festival is scheduled for June 17th (same day as the press conference) in Potenza.
With the installation of the ChitChat of the bell towers by Luca Acito of Studio Antani, from 9.00 to 23.00 in Piazza Matteotti in Potenza, will begin The Pre-Festival that has nothing to envy of anyone (maybe). ChitChat is an investigation tool created by Luca Acito’s Studio Antani, created to stimulate intimate and collective dialogues, installed for the occasion in the two capital cities, thanks to which citizens will be able to send messages throughout the day to vent, confess, free yourself from burdens and envy, dispel myths or reinforce national-popular stereotypes.
At 6.30 pm in the headquarters of Moon – Narrant Object Workshopi, after the greeting from Rossana Cafarelli of La Luna al Guinzaglio who will start theEnvy, the organizers, Mariella Stella and Luca Iacovone, creators of the initiative, together with Mariateresa Cascino, co-organizer of the festival, will explore the theme of vices and virtues and then give vent to creativity with the original production of personalized envy-themed pins. The execution will follow Renaissance chansons with a repertoire that focuses on the chatter and envy of the village, curated by the Melos Polyphonic Choir. All participants will be able to experience the operation of the Patamacchina “Guariscipensiero”, created by La Luna al Guinzaglio, inspired by the study and dissemination work of Ernesto De Martino, which captures bad thoughts and nebulizes them. “They grabbed you with their eyes” is the title of the next speech by Antonella Pellettieri, ISPC CNR based on the story of an experience.
The mini-talk will follow “Case History” of citizen envy: Community Together, in which the president Maria Elena Bencivenga, between the ironic and the grotesque, will shed light on the difficult activity of the Insieme Onlus Association, often at the center of the city chatter. To close, aperitif and music will liven up the envious party.”T’ puzza gì crooked” – “May it go sideways on you”.

The Social Envy Festival is an initiative promoted by Casa Netural, Matera Letteratura, Risvolta, Amabili Confini, TAM – Tower Art Museum, Studio Antani, Generazione Lucana, La Luna al Gunzaglio and Prime Minister Basilicata.
