Ten years after the Mose investigation: conference on business and politics in Veneto

Ten years ago the launch of the“Mose” investigation it represented an important, albeit removed, event in the history of this region. It was called an earthquake. Now, a conference promotes a reflection on the decade that has just passed, thanks to the intervention of scholars, using the anniversary as a useful “pretext”.

To organize the meeting, scheduled Friday 14th and Saturday 15th June in Dolo (Venice), are the Cidv – Documentation and investigation center on organized crime in Veneto, and the Lies association – Laboratory of economic and social investigation. The title is “And ten years seem like a short time. Imaginaries and criminal practices in Veneto” and will take place at the Barchessa of Villa Concina.

«The tenth anniversary brings us back to the work of the Venezia Nuova Consortium and the corruption system that involved important parts of the political and business ruling class of this region, overseeing the major public works for years – explain the promoters -. In fact, important questions are raised by the memory of that event and which we will try to answer in the discussion: are some of the institutional, administrative and cultural devices that allowed that looting still operational? What inertia in the way of doing and understanding business and politics in this region up to ten years ago have continued to shape the Venetian political and cultural landscape? What are the processes by which an event of that magnitude was removed from public debate?”

The program

The conference will be divided into two sessions dedicated, the first to business and the second to politics: the two actors who together – inextricably together – were the protagonists of that story.
