Reggio confirms itself as centre-left: almost all of it. The progressive project led by a representative of the area’s civil society, Massari, also wins in areas facing serious problems of degradation and security. The one in Tarquini is a complete loser, even worse than the predictions on the day before.

The opinion of the citizens is unequivocal, and says that even in the streets around the old railway station, and in the historic center where the complaints of residents and traders are daily, and often legitimate, the Democratic Party, the hegemonic tree of the coalition, and its bushes have prevailed.

OLD TOWN

In the sections of via Monte San Michele and via Emilia Ospizio, close to the railway junction, Massari has in fact won 797 votes, against the 763 of Tarquini (who, however, obtains almost 40 votes more than the lists that support him and prevails by a narrow margin in 2 out of 4 sections of the area) while from the polls in the historic center itself, the new mayor obtained 882 votes, compared to 780 for his main contender. Extending the analysis to the entire area within the hexagon, Massari’s consensus reaches 1689, Tarquini’s stops at 1641, but with as many as 60 separate votes in his favor.

OUTSKIRTS

However, it is in the rest of the city that the comparison is merciless. Moving from Ghiarda and San Bartolomeo (Massari: 1555 votes; Tarquini: 867) at one extreme, up to Sesso, at the other pole, where the centre-right candidate closes almost doubled: 666 votes for him, close to 1200 for Massari .

Not even between Cella and Cadè, where there have been inconveniences and controversies regarding traffic for years, particularly on the Via Emilia, has Tarquini managed to break through a solid front, albeit with some cracks, for almost 80 years. 1074 are in fact the preferences granted to Massari, while the criminal lawyer stops at 728. Worth noting, in this context, is Giuliana Reggio’s exploit: the Alleanza Civica candidate stands at 5%, with peaks of 7% (well higher than the 1.2% obtained in total) driven by the over 100 preferences obtained by Maria Cristina Guarnieri, soul of the local committee founded after the tragic death on the Via Emilia of the young Yuness Lakdar.

The Massari-Tarquini duel then sees the former clearly prevail in the residential neighborhoods of Canalina, where he doubles his opponent in the southern part 1536 votes against 694, and in the north reaches peaks of 70% of the consensus (in section 56).

AT YOUR OWN HOME

Massari is a prophet in his homeland near Regina Pacis, where he lives (1163 to 651 the result in his favor in those streets) something that cannot be achieved by Tarquini who in the area around the “Matilde di Canossa” primary school, where he voted, closes behind by almost 200 votes compared to the new mayor of Reggio.

Massari also clearly prevails in San Maurizio (1400 to 763) in Canali (1441 votes against 1135) and in the Forese area; in the triangle Bagno, Marmimorolo, Gavasseto, fiefdom of the former mayor Vecchi, the electoral battle ended with Massari coming close to 1900 votes and Tarquini just over 1000. If the map of the historic center of Reggio in the past had shown many ‘blue’ patches, now it is the ‘red’ that prevails from East to West and from North to South.
