Lots of bad luck so far in the experience of the Cagliari Beach Soccer women’s team at the Euro Winners Cup, an international event underway throughout the week in Nazaré, Portugal. The girls led by Alejandra Argento, after the 4-2 defeat on penalties last night against the Red Devils Chojnice (1-1 at the end of three halves), lost the second match this time in extra time. The Spanish Fun and Learning won 4-3, after being two goals down with two minutes left in the third and final half of regulation.
Quick comeback. Positive start for Cagliari, who scored the first goal in the 2nd minute with a great finish from Noele. In the second half Arseneault equalized in the 3rd minute, but it was the third half that saw the match heat up. Noele again, from a free kick, puts the rossoblù ahead in the 8th minute and in the 10th minute the penalty awarded and converted by Taii seems to end the contest. But immediately afterwards Lorena closes the gap and, with some disputes about the playing time because it seemed that the clock had already reset, in the last action following a corner the goalkeeper Amaral equalises, thus prolonging the match. At the start of extra time Lorena shoots on goal and a rebound mocks Ruotolo for the lead for Fun and Learning, who holds out for three minutes and takes home the victory. Tomorrow the last match in the group, at 11.15am against the Portuguese side AD Pastéis.
