Programmatic meeting this morning at the Cittadella della Salute in Viale della Vittoria between the top management of the Provincial Health Authority of Agrigento and the Order of Nursing Professions of Agrigento. Various topics were discussed in synergy, including, as a priority, the strengthening of neonatal nursing. The ASP extraordinary commissioner, Giuseppe Capodieci, received, for a very useful opportunity for discussion and exchange of intentions, the OPI president of Agrigento, Salvatore Occhipinti, the head of the Sciacca nursing service and OPI councilor, Antonino Venezia, and the NICU pediatric nurse Sabrina Di Marco.

Salvatore Occhipinti: “We discussed the renewal of contracts, mobility and the call for the recruitment of pediatric nurses
The Order of Nursing Professions (OPI) this morning met with the extraordinary commissioner of the ASP, Giuseppe Capodieci to discuss the renewal of nurses’ contracts, mobility procedures and, importantly, the publication of a notice for the recruitment of nurses pediatric.
Present at the meeting were Salvatore Occhipinti, president of Opi Agrigento; Sabrina Di Marco, counselor and pediatric nurse, and Antonino Venezia, counselor of the Order.
“First of all – explains Salvatore Occhipinti – we asked for the renewal of the nurses’ contracts expiring this month; the ranking for the positions of other nursing staff, considering that the notice has already been published, the ranking will be published in a few days and we will proceed with the mobility but, mainly, we discussed the essential figure of the pediatric nurse. In this sense, in its staffing, the ASP has arranged a total of 16 positions, of which only 2 are occupied by pediatric nurses while the remaining 14 are occupied by generalist nurses. We have, therefore, asked Commissioner Capodieci – concludes President Occhipinti – to publish a notice so that the 14 positions are also occupied by pediatric nurses. Commissioner Capodieci has given his availability both for the renewal of expiring contracts and for the ranking useful for mobility, and for the publication of the notice necessary for the recruitment of pediatric nurses”.
The pediatric nurse, responsible for pediatric nursing care, manages and implements preventive, curative, palliative and rehabilitative interventions towards newborns and children, healthy or ill, up to the age of 18, the family and the community to health education and health promotion interventions. According to article 6 – paragraph 3 – of the Code of the minor’s right to health and health services, “in the event of hospitalization and after his discharge, in order to guarantee continuity of care, the minor (in particular if affected from chronic diseases or disabilities) has the right to be taken care of by a multidisciplinary network integrated between reference university or hospital structures and local health and social structures”.
