Second new face of the renewal campaign that GEAS is implementing for next season. In view of a year that promises to be exciting and full of innovations, the composition of the roster remains one of the key appointments for fans and professionals.
After welcoming Anastasia Conte, the second incoming shot is one of ninety: Laura Spreafico joins the Rossoneri ranks! An expert athlete with great shots, who adds a lot of international experience at high levels and brings a significant upgrade among the Italians.
Class of ’91, born in Erba and weaned on her first senior experiences by the historian Comense sports club, Laura boasts one of the most complete CVs in the Italian basketball scene and an almost twenty-year career in the top Italian championships. After Como she moved to Lucca, then two years to Schio (where in the two-year period he scored the hat-trick championship-Italian Cup-Super Cup) and one in Parma.
He arrived in Ragusa in 2016, his first chapter in Sicily, then returned close to home, fighting for Broni’s green and whites, another brief parenthesis in Lucca and landing in Costa Masnaga, where in the 21/22 season he traveled at the dizzying sum of 17 abundant on average, the highest of his career. The following year the Spanish experience at Gernika Bizkaia and the last championship played in Ragusa. An exhilarating journey that took her all the way to the semi-final, a hard-fought match against Schio.
Season high the 25 points against San Martino, while the resistance against Schio in Game 2 of the semi-final was strenuous, in which Laura scored 19 points and was the last to give up. Laura is also captain of coach Capobianco’s national team and a renowned 3×3 player.
It is precisely from the national team that he will find coach Zanotti, who commented on Spreafico’s signing as follows: “A player of great experience and quality, she is truly the perfect fit for our team characteristics. I got to know Laura better in the national team, before an excellent player is an even more fantastic person.”
Laura expressed herself thus on her arrival in GEAS, during the trip to Azerbaijan for a 3X3 stage: “I am very happy, I believe that over the years GEAS has always built competitive teams, without skipping ahead but by doing one step after another on the growth path to aspire to increasingly ambitious results. Getting closer to home can only be a further reason for joy.
I can’t wait to get into the gym and start working with your classmates, see where the team can go: we are covered in all roles and each pawn has been chosen for a reason. We will be able to have our say in all competitions, both in the league and in Europe.
I am sincerely excited to return to play, after two years, the EuroCup, which I see as one further incentive to do well. I see all the conditions for having a good season.
