The presentation of the second regional Serie B beach soccer championship was held today, June 11, in the “Monsignor Luisi” council room of Lamezia Terme.
The tournament will take place in the beach arena of the Peppino Impastato park, which for the occasion will be named in memory of Saverio Calfa, and the winning team will have the right to play in the play-offs for admission to the Poule Promozione 2025.
There are six participating teams: Massimo Palanca, Sporting Lamezia, Crotone BS, Ecosistem Lamezia Soccer, Pol. Dil. Pellarese and Amantea BS.
The tournament phases will take place from 14 to 16 June for the groups and 28 and 29 June for the semi-finals and finals.
The final for the title could be postponed to the Calabrian stage of the Poule Scudetto which will be held in Cirò Marina from 14 to 16 July. During the conference, Salvatore D’Augello, advisor of the Beach Soccer Department, underlined the commitment to organizing the tournament and the growth of the movement.
The president of Ecosistem Lamezia Soccer, Francesco Manfredi, expressed satisfaction with the naming of the beach arena after Saverio Calfa and with the work to make it increasingly welcoming.
The president of CR Calabria, Saverio Mirarchi, praised Lamezia as a point of reference in beach soccer at a national and regional level.
The president of the municipal council, Giancarlo Nicotera, praised the centrality of the Saverio Calfa arena and the importance of the Lametini representatives in the Federation.
Saverio Calfa’s father, Tullio, remembered his son’s passion for sport and said he was happy for the naming of the field.
The sports councilor, Luisa Vaccaro, underlined how the structure is a meeting point for young people. Mayor Paolo Mascaro spoke of a successful bet and the importance of continuing to invest in sport. In the future, new sports facilities will be inaugurated to enrich the city’s sports offering.
