We’re here now. The first stage of the Serie B regional championshipSands of Sicily” is upon us. From 21st to 23rd June, the stage of the regional Serie B beach soccer championship will be played in Torre Faro (Messina), the first call of which was announced by the Regional Committee of Lnd Sicily, led by president Sandro Morgana, and by I Soci di Vittoria.
The formula is defined with a championship that includes three Open tournaments (Messina Capo Faro, 21-23 June; San Vito Lo Capo, 12-14 July; Marina di Modica 26-28 July). The final master will be held in Marina di Ragusa, from 9 to 11 August 2024. The first 8 male and 4 female teams registered in each tournament will participate. The first team in Sicily will participate in the Genoa stage for promotion to Serie A Poule Promozione.

2024 is therefore confirmed as a significant year in terms of planning for the general importation of beach soccer on Sicilian beaches. Messina represents only the forerunner for a regional event that will touch the beaches of San Vito Lo Capo, Marina di Modica and Marina di Ragusa. The same president Sandro Morgana he made it a point to reiterate several times how “the proposal expands even further, touching four prestigious island locations which will showcase their tourist and landscape beauties and which aims to consolidate itself as a traditional fixed event of the summer period”. “We are working hard – he confesses Fabio Nicosia, president and soul of “I Soci” – to be ready and to experience an event that is certainly important in a special location which will host the final phase of the Italian Cup at the end of the month”.
All we have to do is start the engines at a particularly significant moment of the season given that the first stage in Viareggio was celebrated with the first 3 days of the championship and the national Under 20 phase. The first trophy of the season was also awarded on the Tuscan sand with the victory of the Super Cup by Catania Beach Soccer.
In Sicily there is an extraordinary excitement around beach soccer. An example, moreover, was also the regional stage of Marina of Modica last year where they chose to bring the public closer, setting up the field on the sand without stands. An American formula that met with great success. “These are the emotions – concludes Nicosia – that guarantee us sand sports. And, in my opinion, the Sicilian beaches, the network of places chosen, will contribute to the success of everything.”
