Of the tragic feeling of life

L’Cervantes Institute of Palermo hosts in the premises of the Church of Sant’Eulalia dei Catalani (via Argenteria Nuova, 33), Tuesday 11 June at 6.30pm, the concert Of the tragic feeling of life performed by the talented pianist Alexander Lutz Garcia.

The event, which closes the cycle of activities “SPAIN SICILY in MUSIC”, is part of the collaboration with the María Canals Foundation of Barcelonapromoter of the International Music Competition considered among the most prestigious in the world.

In the 69th edition of the competition, the Best Spanish Award was won by Lutz García who will perform the Sonata n.1 by Robert Schumann and Iberia, according to notebook by the composer Isaac Albéniz.

In 1912 the novelist Miguel de Unamuno published the volume Of the tragic feeling of lifean essay in which he stated that the primary cause of human pain was the awareness of the brevity of life which, due to its irrational and contradictory nature, is experienced as a tragic experience.

This existential torment has always been a great source of artistic inspiration.

In this regard it was not accidental for Lutz García the choice of compositions by Schumann and Albéniz, two authors who, with fundamentally different expressive means – on the one hand the passionate German romanticism, on the other the splendid Andalusian folklore – manage to express, in a very subjective and personal way, this feeling.

Alexandre Lutz García was born in Paris in 1998 where he began his musical studies at the age of 3. He studied music at the Alicante Conservatory and at the Schola Cantorum in Paris with Francisco Escoda and Eugen Indjic. In 2020 he settled in Amsterdam to obtain a Master’s degree with professors Naum Grubert and Hanna Shibayeva, with whom he continues to study today. In addition to his activity in the field of chamber music, Alexandre frequently participates in piano competitions such as the Ibiza International Competition (first prize), the Albacete National Competition (first prize) or the Frechilla-Zuloaga International Prize (third prize).

Entrance to the concert is free while available seats last.
