Francesco Ventola among those elected to the European Parliament

While vote counting operations are still underway, for the European elections it emerges that at constituency of Southern Italy (Abruzzo, Molise, Campania, Puglia, Basilicata and Calabria) the seats will be assigned as follows: 5 al Pd, 5 to Fratelli d’Italia, 4 to M5S, 2 to Forza Italia, 1 to Lega e and 1 Verdi/Sin. In Puglia the first party is the Democratic Party with 444,182 votes and 33.59% of the votes. The former mayor of Bari, Antonio Decaro is the most supported with 484,047 preferences ahead of Lucia Annunziata with 233,546 votes and Raffaele Topo with 122,779. In second place Brothers of Italy with 356,311 votes, with 26.93%. In third place, the 5 Star Movement with 14.18% of the votes, then Forza Italia with 7.75% and the League, 6.6%. For Brothers of Italy, Giorgia Meloni exceeded 500 thousand preferences ahead of Alberigo Gambino with 88,166 preferences, in third place Francesco Ventola with 86,389, the first Canosino in history to be elected to the European Parliament.

In Italy abstentionism wins, sonly 49.6% approximately of those entitled went to vote for the elections European, about the 5% less compared to the session five years ago. In the constituencies of North-Western Italy and North-Eastern Italy the turnout went above 50% while inSouthern Italy and Insular Italy the figure fell below 45%.
