2024 administrative elections in the province of Siena: turnout 66.18%

Final turnout of the administrative and European elections in the province of Siena on 8 and 9 June 2024. The polls closed at 11pm on Sunday 9 June for the European elections (in which Italian voters will be called to elect the 76 European parliamentarians assigned to Italy for the 2024-2029 legislature) and the Administrative elections in more than 3,700 Italian municipalities, in addition to Regional elections in Piedmont.


Relatively to Administrative electionsin the province of Siena there was a vote for the direct election of the Mayor and the renewal of the municipal council in 29 Municipalities (for the European elections obviously voting takes place in all 35 municipalities of the province), of which two, Poggibonsi And Colle di Val d’Elsawith a population exceeding 15,000 inhabitants, and in which, in the event that no candidate has achieved an absolute majority, there will be a run-off between the two candidates for mayor with the most votes in 15 days, Sunday 23rd and Monday 24th June.

The 27 other municipalitieswhere the mayor will be immediately elected by simple majority are: Abbadia San Salvatore, Asciano, Buonconvento, Casole d’Elsa, Castellina in Chianti, Castelnuovo Berardenga, Castiglione d’Orcia, Cetona, Chianciano Terme, Chiusdino, Gaiole in Chianti, Montepulciano, Monteriggioni, Monteroni d’Arbia, Murlo, Piancastagnaio, Pienza, Radda in Chianti*, Radicofani*, Radicondoli, Rapolano Terme, San Casciano dei Bagni*, San Gimignano, San Quirico d’Orcia, Sinalunga, Sovicille, Torrita di Siena.

* In the Municipalities of Radda in Chianti, Radicofani And San Casciano dei Bagniwhere there is a single candidate for mayor with a single list, the candidate is elected provided that the list has received a number of valid votes not less than 50% of voters and the number of voters was not less than 40% of voters registered on the Municipality’s electoral lists. If these percentages are not reached, the election is null and void.

The counting operations for the election of the members of the European Parliament due to Italy began on Sunday 9 June at the close of the polls as soon as the voter matching operations were concluded, while the counting for the municipal elections will begin Monday 10 June at 2.00 pm.

Relatively to Administrative electionsthe overall turnout figure in the province of Siena was 66.18% of those entitled to vote (63.84% in Tuscany) while, as regards the European electionshe was born in 64.09% (a result favored by the concomitance with the administrative elections; the national figure is in fact 49.69% while the regional figure is 59.07%).

The municipality with the highest turnout was that of Radicondoli with 80.39%, the one with the lowest number of voters San Quirico d’Orcia with 59.93%. The two municipalities with a population exceeding 15,000 inhabitants, Poggibonsi And Colle di Val d’Elsarecorded a turnout of respectively 66.10 he was born in 69.07 percent.
